The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 8 marks its seventh decade in a month-long celebration with the theme, “DSWD@70: Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa Panahon ng Pandemya,”.

The celebration focused on recognizing and giving distinction to the invaluable service of local development partners, local government units (LGUs), People’s Organizations (POs), national government agencies, groups, and organizations who have been partners of the department in delivering social protection services to the country’s poor and vulnerable sector through the PaNata Ko (Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon) sa Bayan Awards.
Among the category of Panata Ko sa Bayan Awards is the GAWAD PAGLILINGKOD SA SAMBAYANAN o GAPAS Award. This award is a commendation given to the model Local Government Units (LGUs) implementing DSWD programs and services.

Local Government Unit (LGU) of Silago, Southern Leyte bagged this regional GAPAS award for Model LGU implementing Kalahi-CIDSS.

Another set of recognition is the Salamat Po award. The Salamat Po Award is a commendation of development partners who provided assistance in the Department’s delivery of social protection services and achievement of goals as well as a recognition to non-government organizations’ best practices.

Leyte-Samar Center for Change Foundation, Inc., Tacloban City was acclaimed as the regional Salamat po awardee.

Further, the department also awarded the regional-initiated recognition called Pasasalamat award, to 23 exemplary partners, stakeholders, groups, and organizations for their contributions of providing support and technical assistance to the realization of the agency’s mandate.

Among the Pasasalamat awardees are the Civil Service Commission (Leyte- Field Office 2), Bureau of Fire Protection (Tacloban City & Palo Leyte), Department of Public Works and Highways (Regional Office 8 & 1st Leyte Engineering District, Department of Health, Department of the Interior, and Local Government, Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center, Philippine National Police, National Nutrition Council, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Land Bank of the Philippines, Provincial Government Unit of Leyte, LGU Allen, Northern Samar, LGU Laoang, Northern Samar, Municipality of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte, Municipality of Maripipi Biliran, Metro Ormoc Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Save the Children Philippines, Plan International Philippines- Eastern Visayas, International Justice Mission (Cebu City), An WARAY partylist and TINGOG Partylist. #DSWDMayMalasakit
