The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII kicked off today its month-long 70th regional anniversary celebration, which is anchored on the theme “Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa lahat ng panahon.”

The kick-off activity opened with the message of Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan highlighting the department’s strengthened commitment towards public service, adhering to integrity, service excellence, and respect for human dignity, despite the challenges of the pandemic and ever-evolving trials of the decade.

Regional Director Gopalan continued that as the department marks its 70th year– the public can continue to count on the department’s agility in working with the partner agencies and LGUs to deliver responsive and timely services to the poorest of the poor and most vulnerable groups in the society.

Today’s kick-off activities also consisted of a Holy Mass and virtual orientation of Magna Carta for Women, in observation of the National Women Month.

Further, month-long celebration activities also entail the recognition ceremony for the invaluable contribution of DSWD employees, partners, and stakeholders towards service excellence, virtual talent competition, and inauguration and blessing of the new DSWD building and among others.
