The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), thru its Kapit-Bisig Laban Sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program, turned over to the remote barangay of Putong, in San Julian, Eastern Samar, an improved access road on March 25, 2021, at the Municipal Gymnatorium.

During the turn-over ceremony, Mario Vic Jaradal, the chief village, shared his appreciation for the DSWD and the national government for helping local government units in improving the well-being of people in poor communities.

He also gave his commendation to the community volunteers who led in identifying and completing the project.

With the newly-constructed 280 linear-meter barangay access road, the residents of Brgy. Putong and its nearby villages will no longer suffer from poor road conditions.

The PhP 2.5 million worth access road will help reduce transportation cost especially in carrying agricultural products. It will also improve the access of the community to health care centers in the town proper, especially where health attention is essential in this pandemic.

The community-led project is funded under the Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) of the DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS program. #DSWDMayMalasakit #MagKalahiTayoPilipinas #ThisIs8
