Outgoing DSWD Regional Director, Marie Angela Gopalan, is one of ten women – awardees in today’s special episode of the virtual kapihan with P.I.A. and Friends, dubbed as PANINDUGAN of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Her citation is in “grateful recognition for her active role for championing and upholding and promoting women’s rights amidst the threat of the pandemic, and for her continuous support to development communication programs, projects, and activities of the P.I.A. in Eastern Visayas, including PIA – led cluster advocacy campaigns on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).” P.I.A. Leyte Provincial Manager, Gemma Tabao, hands to her the award, in this meaningful event that is also aimed to celebrate this year’s National Women’s Month.

Director Gopalan is now attending the Turn-over Ceremony in La Union (Region 1) where she will be the new Regional Director effective April 1, 2021. For Region VIII, Director Grace Subong (the Assistant Regional Director for Operations) will act as O.I.C.-Regional Director for Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, this week’s PANINDUGAN had its guest from the DSWD Field Office VIII, Reden Sabela, who talked about the empowerment of women in Pantawid Pamilya. Thanks to the P.I.A. headed by Regional Manager, Erlinda Olivia Tiu, for giving the DSWD another opportunity to be able to promote its social protection programs to its various publics.
