The 47 boys of the DSWD – run Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Tanauan, Leyte got the biggest surprise of their life when former DSWD Assistant Secretary, Lorraine Marie Badoy, visited yesterday. It was the second visit of the official who is passionate about helping the poor and the needy, and the young who need guidance and protection.

Fourteen of the boys, specially, who are involved in their school publication were most enthusiastic to meet and interview the visiting official, now Undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

Undersecretary Badoy told them how proud she is for coming up with their own paper, The Beacon Gazette, with their adviser, Argie Mabag of the Tanauan School of Arts and Trade (TSAT).

RRCY Officer-In-Charge, Georgina Bulasa, revealed that 35 of these minors are attending formal classes right at the Center, which offers Junior and Senior High School.

The formal school of RRCY is a coordinated project with the Department of Education Leyte Division thru the TSAT.
