A total of 19 municipalities in Eastern Visayas will be covered by the Cash-For-Work program thru the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) KALAHI-CIDSS, this year .

One of the benefiting municipalities is Silvino Lobos, a fourth (4th) class town in Northern Samar.

Municipal Social Welfare Officer (MSWDO) Agner Sagonoy extended his appreciation to the DSWD for this emergency support to their town.

For him, this cash-for-work program creates another opportunity in “easing the financial burdens” of communities mostly affected by the crisis. At the same, it encourages community participation as it is implemented through the community-driven way.

Cash-for-work program recipients will receive financial assistance in exchange of working together, and participating in projects and activities, including, but not limited to, disaster preparedness, mitigation, rehabilitation, or risk reduction projects and activities in their municipalities.

Communities, through series of meetings, identify what is the most pressing need to be addressed in their town.

Further, through this program, temporary employment is generated which provides financial augmentation to communities amidst the current crisis.
