The Department of Social Welfare and Development, thru the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, converged with the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) members for a regular meeting on June 30, 2021, via a blended platform.

Chaired by Dir. Grace Subong, the RAC aims to provide policy directions and recommendations on the program implementation at the regional level. This joint effort also promotes regional ownership among agencies and local implementers to guarantee the availability and provision of necessary support services or access to basic services for qualified household beneficiaries.

The members from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Education (DepED), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) attended the regular conference. Other partners such as Save the Children Philippines and Philippine National Police were also present during the activity.

Further, the meeting centered on the coordination activities and commitments across agencies to address the supply-side gaps, enhance the program implementation, and integrate programs and services of various government agencies as one of the strategies for poverty reduction among 4Ps beneficiaries.

4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy of the national government, with DSWD as the lead agency. Household beneficiaries are entitled to receive cash subsidies provided that the conditions on health, nutrition, and education are followed. The program aims to foster necessary behavior for parents to adequately perform the duties and responsibilities, particularly in investing in their children’s future. #
