DSWD Eastern Visayas offers its condolences to the family of the 33-year old male from Lawaan, Eastern Samar, who was found dead after allegedly committing suicide when he found out that his RT-PCR test result for COVID-19 was positive.
Through coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO), and the barangay officials, DSWD Eastern Visayas found out that the deceased was responsible for taking care of his bedridden father.
As part of its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program under the Crisis Intervention Section, DSWD sought out the family of the deceased and provided cash assistance, which was extended to the nearest relative.
