The 8ID of the Philippine Army thru the Commanding Officer LTC Joemar Buban issued a Revocable Permit to the Department of Social Welfare and Development to utilize the Radio Broadcasting System (RBS), a radio station known as the 100.1 Dangpanan FM stationed inside Camp General Vicente Lukban, Maulong, Catbalogan City, Samar.

In addition to the previously signed Memorandum of Agreement, OIC Regional Director Grace Subong welcomed this new partnership with the Philippine Army. Amidst the pandemic when mass gatherings are limited, access to information via radio programs is helpful to those who do not have phone and internet signals. It will also benefit the 4Ps beneficiaries who rely on the radio stations to get information in the far-flung communities in Catbalogan and nearby municipalities in Samar.

Operated and managed by the 8th Civil-Military Operations Batallion, the use of the radio broadcasting system aims to intensify the provision of timely and relevant information in the GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas) on the current thrusts, programs, and services of the government specifically on the delivery of social welfare services in Eastern Visayas.

The permit authorizes DSWD thru the Family Development Sessions of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and other programs to propagate and disseminate the information about various social welfare programs and interventions of DSWD in Eastern Visayas to the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors.

Led by DSWD, 4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy of the national government with DSWD as the lead agency. Household beneficiaries are entitled to receive cash subsidies provided that the conditions on health, nutrition, and education are followed. This will foster necessary behavior for parents to adequately perform the duties and responsibilities, particularly in investing in their children’s future.#
