The breadwinner of his family even before entering the academy, CADET 1CL JOHN REY MEDINA CATAPAL is a struggling son of a farmer who tried all possible ways to acquire education and at the same time help his family.

He was a grantee of the Expanded Students’ Grant-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA), a college scholarship sub-program of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

In addition, he was also the Unit Battalion Adjutant of the Reserved Officer Training Course (ROTC) of his former school, Leyte Normal University (LNU) which gave him financial assistance as allowance and tuition fee in his studies. Being part of their ROTC unit ignited the dream of this man to enter the academy, help his family and make his dream a reality. Appreciating life’s struggles, he was designated as the Athletic Officer of the CCAFP’s Delta Company.

Now, he encourages the youth to take the challenge that once tested him. For him, it is the mindset we carry that ignores difficulties and attains life’s goals. Now, he dares you to rise amidst the impossibilities and challenges that life could offer.
