The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Field Office VIII accepted 7,850 sacks of rice from the Republic of Korea Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs during the Turnover Ceremony on February 26, 2024 in Catarman Northern, Samar. The donation aims to aid families affected by the shear line in the province.
As part of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Tier 3 Program, which aims to enhance food security and alleviate poverty in East Asia, 2,000 families in Palapag, 2,000 in Catubig, 2,000 in Lope De Vega, and 1,850 in Las Navas benefited from the program.
Present during the turnover ceremony were APTERR Secretariat General Manager Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Hon. Roderico Bioco, Provincial Governor of Northern Samar, Hon. Edwin Ongchuan and the Division Chief of DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) Lucia G. Balantad.
