The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Eastern Visayas has conducted the Sustainable Livelihood Program Municipal Orientation and Coordination Meeting in Abuyog, Leyte on February 16, 2024.

The Local Government Unit of Abuyog, Leyte has been chosen as one of the DSWD-SLP Zero Hunger recipients for fiscal year 2024 with a total fund allocation of Php 4,080,000.00 for 272 beneficiaries with Program Convergence Budgeting Projects, Mangirisda sa Otso, and Paglambo ha Agrikultura.

In his speech, Abuyog, Leyte Municipal Mayor Lemuel Gin Traya encouraged all the partners to collaborate and build a strong partnership to help the Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) sustain their livelihood projects which will ultimately provide them with a sustainable income source.

Partners and stakeholders from the government and private sectors have presented their programs and services for the SLPAs. They recited and signed their Pledge of Commitment and Manifestation of Support committing their organization as partner in the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

Present during the activity were representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry, National Irrigation Administration, Cooperative Development Authority, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Training Institute, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.
