As part of the commitment of the Local Government Unit of San Juan Southern Leyte to provide aftercare programs and services, the LGU provided livelihood grants to each Pantawid Pamilya household which graduated from the program.

From 2022 to 2023, a total of 48 households graduated Pantawid households have benefited from this livelihood intervention program.

To ensure sustainability of the livelihood project, the Local Social Welfare and Development Office (LSWDO) together with the committee from the Local Advisory Council (LAC) put in place a monitoring and evaluation system for the livelihood projects. On the other hand, it has been the practice among the assigned Municipal Links to regularly visit these households to discern problems that may arise in their implementation of the project and provide feedback to the LSWDO.

Further, prior to the Pugay Tagumpay Ceremonial Graduation, the Pantawid staff conducted profiling of entrepreneurial and livelihood skills of 4Ps members.

Moreover, before exiting from the program, these beneficiaries also attended financial literacy orientation facilitated by Pantawid Pamilya and OCCI- San Juan. Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) capacitated them with Financial Management wherein they underwent technical coaching, saving mechanism and managing assets and linkages to community cooperatives to have a more comprehensive intervention.

San Juan has been a very active and supportive LGU of the DSWD Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. As a matter of fact, the LGU San Juan passed four (3) ordinances on the following: (1) institutionalization of the expanded benefits of the 4Ps beneficiaries within the Municipality;( 2) adoption of the Kilos Unlad Social Case management framework; and (3) prohibition on the pawning of cash cards of 4Ps beneficiaries. The LGU also passed an executive order creating a Local Advisory Council (LAC) for the Pantawid Pamilya.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) acknowledges the importance of collaborative efforts from the agency, Local Government Units, and partner stakeholders in order for these households to not slide back to poverty.

Kudos to LGU San Juan!
