The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII has inaugurated the Guinmaayohan Piggery Farm Association (GPFA) in Balangiga, Eastern Samar yesterday.
The association, composed of 30 members, has embarked on hog raising as their chosen enterprise. They were provided a seed capital fund of 300,000 pesos on 28 September 2023.
The launching ceremony was graced by Balangiga Municipal Mayor Dana Flynch De Lira.
Also present were key figures instrumental in the success of the project, including the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Glorie Loyola, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Provincial Coordinator Lolita Enciso, SLP Project Development Officer Shaira Valenzon, Department of Trade and Industry Representative Manilyn Dela Cruz, and the 63rd Infantry Battalion, headed by Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Lucio Janolino, who was represented by 2nd Lieutenant Mesias Burgos of the Charlie and Delta Campanies.
The establishment of this association falls under Executive Order 70 Program, a comprehensive strategy aimed at addressing insurgency and fostering peace and development in conflict-affected areas.
