The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Leyte recently concluded an exit conference with the 14th Infantry Battalion (14th IB) of the Philippine Army recently.

The conference served as a platform to evaluate the implementation of Executive Order (EO) no. 70, which seeks to address the root causes of insurgency through the enhanced delivery of basic services, social development, and inclusive governance in conflict-vulnerable areas.

Representatives from DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Leyte 2 Cluster, led by Provincial Coordinator Darwin Cabelin, along with TESDA Leyte represented by Maria Lourdes Daganio, and the 14th IB led by Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Gabia, discussed the progress, challenges, and impact of EO 70 initiatives in Leyte province.

DSWD SLP Leyte 2 Cluster and TESDA Leyte shared best practices in livelihood development and skills training, emphasizing the importance of empowering beneficiaries to become self-reliant. Meanwhile, the 14th IB provided feedback on the ground realities and security dynamics for a comprehensive assessment of EO 70 interventions and their effectiveness in promoting peace and stability.

EO 70 was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in December 2018 which established a Whole-of-Nation Approach to attain inclusive and sustainable peace by integrating the efforts of the government and other stakeholders. 🌱
