DSWD FO8 Joins National Nutrition Month Celebration
DSWD Eastern Visayas’ Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) in collaboration with the Human Resource Welfare Section (HRWS), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), and Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), spearheaded a culminating program for the National Nutrition Month Celebration last July 25, 2022. Anchored on the theme, “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!”, this year’s celebration calls for a strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards the new normal. The Nutritionist Dietician Association of the Philippines (NDAP) set up a Nutrition Asessment and Counseling Booth where the participants were assessed of thier nutritional status through thier Body Mass Index. Meanwhile, local nutrition products from La Paz, Palo and Tacloban City, Leyte were exhibited and sold to interested participants. The activity was graced by the National Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Catalino Dotollo Jr. of the National Nutrition Council Region 8, DSWD Regional Director Grace Subong, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Administration Clarito Logronio, ARD for Operations Natividad Sequito and SFP Head Pauline Liza Nadera. #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD #NewtritionMonth2022

Ang pagboboluntaryo sa ilalim ng DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS ay walang pinipiling antas ng kalagayan sa buhay. Ang ating mga kababayan na may kapansanan ay binibigyan ng puwang ng programa lalo’t higit sila ay may bukal na pusong tumulong para sa ika-uunlad ng pamayanan. Katulad ni Emeliano “Milan” Apdos mula sa Brgy. Katipunan, Sta. Fe, Leyte ay maligayang nagiging kabahagi sa pagpapaunlad sa kanilang barangay bilang community volunteer. Habang nagtatrabaho sa isang pribadong bahay maraming taon na ang nakalilipas, nakuryente ito dahilan na siya ay maputulan ng kanang kamay. Banggit ni Milan, dahil sa pangyayari ay nawalan siya ng gana sa buhay. Hindi na rin ito makatulong sa kanyang pamilya. Ngunit nang mabigyan siya ng oportunidad upang maging community volunteer sa ilalim ng KALAHI-CIDSS, nabigyan siya ng bagong pag-asa na bumangon muli. “Ang DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS ang nagbigay sa akin ng inspirasyon ngayon. Nag-enjoy ako pag may meetings at sa ngayon may mga natututunan ako kagaya ng pagsagawa ng pagpili ng mga prioridad nga na kailangan ng aming barangay. Ngayong Disaster Resilience Month, basahin kung paano ang DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS sa pamamagitan ng Community-Driven Development (CDD), ang development strategy na ginagamit ng programa, ay nag ambag sa disaster resilience ng mga pamayanan. Sa pamamagitan ng CDD, natutukoy ng mga residente ang mga proyekto na makakatulong sa mga problemang kinakaharap nila sa pamayanan.Kabilang sa mga proyektong natukoy ng mga residente ay may kinalaman sa pagbawas sa mga maaaring maging pinsala ng mga paparating pang sakuna. Sa lugar ng Brgy. Poblacion II sa Sebastian Samar natukoy at nakapagpatupad ang mga residente ng Rehabilitation of Seawall sa ilalim ng DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS program. Ito ay natapos noong ika-lima ng Mayo taong kasalukuyan. Saad ni Freddie Amores, residente at community volunteer, “ Nakatulong ang sea wall sa komunidad sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay nito ng proteksyon sa mga bahay, gamit, pasilidad at lalong lalo na sa buhay ng mga tao sapagkat sinisiguro nito ang kaligtasan ng mga tao sa anumang sakuna …” Dagdag ni Freddie na sa pamamagitan ng proyektong sea wall nagkaroon ng kapayapaan ang mga mamamayan dahil hindi na sila nakaramdam ng pagkatakot sa panahong malakas ang alon ng tubig o kaya ay kung mayroong bagyong paparating. #MagKalahiTayoPilipinas #thisis8 #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD
DSWD Eastern Visayas Welcomed the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC)
LOOK: DSWD Eastern Visayas welcomed the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), as they prepare for the transition of Functions, Programs, Projects, and Activities under the DSWD-NCSC MOA. The DSWD and NCSC are in close coordination and continuously conducting meetings for the immediate transfer of programs for the Senior Citizens to the NCSC. The agreements include, turnover timeliness, challenges to be addressed and other preparatory activities involving personnel and facilities that will be affected. #DSWDMayMalasakit

Based on initial report, the fire broke out at a warehouse of construction materials at 7:59 PM and was declared fire out at 8:29PM. LOOK: The Finance and Procurement Unit of DSWD Central Office has extended technical assistance to DSWD Eastern Visayas on the procurement process with emphasis on Framework Agreement (FA) on July 19, 2022. FA is in the nature of an option contract between the procuring entity and the bidder/s granting the procuring entity the option to either place an order for any of the goods or services identified in the Framework Agreement List or not buy at all, within a minimum period of one (1) year to a maximum period of (3) years. Through FA, efficiency in procurement is attained as repetitive conduct of procurement or the occasions of failures of biddings are minimized; and the commitment by the supplier or service provider to immediately deliver at short notice will translate to a more efficient means of supplying goods and services. Present during the activity were the Technical Working Group and the Secretariat of the Bids and Awards Committee, Inspectors, and selected staff from the Financial Management Division, Administrative Division, and Disaster Response Management Division. #DSWDMayMalasakit
