TINGNAN: Namahagi ang DSWD Eastern Visayas – Eastern Samar Sub Field Office ng Family Food Packs (FFPs) at Non Food Items sa siyam na apektadong pamilya ng sunog sa Brgy. Bulosao, Lawaan, Eastern Samar. Nakatanggap ng tig-dalawang FFPs at tig-isa namang sleeping kit, kitchen kit at hygiene kit ang bawat apektadong pamilya. Ayon sa report ng Bureau of Fire Protection, naganap ang sunog sa Barangay Bulosao, Lawaan sa 03:00 nang madaling araw noong Hulyo 14, 2022. Idineklara itong fire out bandang 05:40 ng umaga sa parehong araw. Walang namang naiulat na nasawi sa mga sibilyan at mga rumespondeng bumbero. Nagpapatuloy pa rin ang imbestigasyon sa dahilan ng sunog at validation sa mga napinsalang mga bahay. #DSWDMayMalasakit
RJJWC 8, Catbalogan LGU Joins Training of Trainers on CBJIP Formulation
The Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council 8 (RJJWC) and the Local Government Unit of Catbalogan City, Samar have participated in the Training of Trainers (TOT) on the Formulation of Comprehensive Barangay Juvenile Intervention Program (CBJIP) at Mansion Garden Hotel, Subic, Zambales on July 11-15, 2022. The JJWC and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) spearheaded said training to capacitate the participants on the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP) using Theory of Change and Results-Based Management frameworks to guide the LGUs in developing their respective CBJIPs; and the Public Finance Module to help identify the possible sources of funds for CBJIP implementation. Enacted on April 28, 2006, the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act requires the national, regional, and local government to develop, review and implement a three to five-year CLJIP to prevent juvenile delinquency and to rehabilitate, reintegrate and prevent reoffending of those who have come into conflict with the law. Participants from Regions 3, 8, 10 and the National Capital Region have prepared and presented an action plan for the conduct of TOT to the provinces so the LGUs will be capacitated to formulate their own CBJIP. #DSWDMayMalasakit
Turnover of Temporary Shelters for Typhoon Agaton Affected Families in Baybay
The DSWD Eastern Visayas together with its partners, PNP, BFP and DPWH joined the ocular inspection at the relocation site in Brgy. Maganhan, as spearheaded by the Department of National Defense on the turnover of temporary shelter for typhoon Agaton affected families of Brgy. Kantagnos, Baybay City, Leyte. There were also distributions of Family Food Packs (FFPs) and cash assistance distributed by the DSWD Regional Director herself, Grace Q. Subong and non-food items such as family kits, hygiene kits, butane gas and stove from OCD as well as tables and chairs from GSAT. The City Vice Mayor, Hon. Ernesto M. Butawan welcomes all the invited guests for the turnover of temporary shelter project from (OCD to LGU Baybay). The City Mayor, Hon. Jose Carlos L. Cari wholeheartedly accepts the project and expressed his gratitude in behalf of the affected families of Brgy. Kantagnos, Baybay City, Leyte. Moreover, the Brgy. Captain, Hon Michelle Cipe as the community representative had her heart-tearing message pertaining to the unending support of the government for them to recover from the casualties brought by the typhoon Agaton. The program also spotlighted the Guest of Honor, USEC. Ricardo B. Jalad the Administrator of the Department of National Defense, where he focused on how the government can improve the support towards the affected citizens of typhoon Agaton in Brgy. DSWD Eastern Visayas Strengthens Partnership with WFP and ECHO
The DSWD Field Office VIII through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division recently coordinated with the World Food Program and European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations at the Regional Resource Operation Center, Palo, Leyte. This activity steered towards possible augmentation to the agency’s disaster response operation, especially when it comes to logistic requirements, data management, and development of the capacities of our workers or responders, for it to be better and sustainable. Regional Director Grace Subong emphasized the importance of supporting each other survive through the difficult times including all sorts of disasters as she expressed, “Even if we too have become victims, we are still going to help.” #DSWDMayMalasakit

LOOK: DSWD Eastern Visayas has distributed Family Food Packs (FFPs) and cash assistance to the 19 families affected by the fire incident in Catbalogan City, Samar. Each family has received FFP and 10K cash assistance for those who have totally damaged house and 5K for partially damaged house through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). According to the report of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire incident occurred in P-2 Barangay 11 at 08:18 AM on July 12, 2022 and was declared fire out at 09:35 AM on the same day. There was no reported casualty on civilians and responding firefighters. The investigation on the reason of the fire incident are still in progress. #DSWDMayMalasakit
